The following guidelines are implemented when children have the opportunity to interact with animals.
Health & Safety
Nappy Changing Procedure
It is the policy of this centre to provide a safe and hygienic procedure for changing nappies. We must ensure we provide a clean environment to prevent the spread of disease or infection. In addition, we aim to create an environment that encourages positive interaction between children and the carer during nappy changing procedure.
S.I.D.S
At Lili’s Early Learning , to reduce the risk of S.I.D.S, parents will be provided with current information from the ‘National SIDS Council of Australia.’
Kitchen And Children's Non-Care Areas
Potentially dangerous products are clearly labeled and stored in storage areas that are kept locked or are inaccessible to children. Children are not permitted in the kitchen or any other area that is not specified for children’s use. Please ensure that when you go into any non-play area, the door is securely closed.

Occupational Health And Safety Policy
Lili’s Early Learning has a responsibility to protect the health and safety of each individual at all times. The centre’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
Smoke Free Environment Policy
Research has shown that passive smoking (the inhalation of environmental tobacco smoke) increases risks to health, (Cancer Council Australia, 2004).
Medical Conditions Policy
Rationale: Lili’s Early Learning has a duty of care to ensure that all persons are provided with a high level of protection during our hours of operation.
Pets in Childcare Policy
Pets play an important part of development in a child’s life. Pets teach children about responsibility and nurturing. The benefits of having pets within the centre must be balanced against the potential health hazards associated with the presence of the animal.
Sun Protection Policy
This policy applies to all centre events on and off site.
Rationale: A balance of ultraviolet radiation (UV) exposure is important for health. Too much of the sun’s UV can cause sunburn, skin and eye damage and skin cancer. Sun exposure in the first ten years of life is a major factor in determining future skin cancer risk. Too little UV from the sun can lead to low vitamin D levels and Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones and muscles as well as general health.
Medication Policy
Lili’s Early Learning has a duty of care to ensure that children are provided with a high level of protection during the hours of the Centres operation. Medicating young children requires strict guidelines to ensure safe handling of administering medication to children.
Rest And Sleep Policy
Lili’s Early Learning has a duty of care to ensure all children are provided with a high level of safety when resting or sleeping while in care. Effective rest and sleep strategies are important factors in ensuring a child feels secure and safe in their environment.
Supervision Policy
Lili’s Early Learning has a duty of care to provide all persons with a safe and healthy environment.
